LADIES: The Womens' singlespeed disussion continues. Special thanks to Ron Strasser, Kendra Wenzel and Candi Murray for some excellent insights they've shared with me.
In my ongoing research to figure out if and how womens SS category might work in short-track and cross, I have a couple of questions. Whether you've already asked to be put on the list or not, your answers will help greatly. If you'd please send your answers to my email that would be great.
a1. (For Returning racers in 2010 ONLY) What category would you be coming FROM to switch to womens' singlespeed (list any or both disciplines)?
a2. (For NEW racers in 2010 ONLY) Would the existence of a Womens' SS category make you more likely to race beginner class on a singlespeed (in anticipation of switching to womens' singlespeed category later)?
b. All women: If scheduling permitted, would you choose to race womens singlespeed as a second race of the day (and pay the "2nd race" fee)? Or would you just race womens' singlespeed? (Pick one)
c. Please pick one -- and only one -- option that you would prefer:
1. I'd like to race with Mens' B/Mens' Singlespeed.
2. I'd like to race with them other womens' categories but be counted as a Womens' SS racer.
3. I'd like to race in a Singlespeed ONLY race (with the Mens' Bs going into another race that day.
I'd like to hear from as many female respondents as possible so that there is enough feedback to really inform the discussion. I cannot say if ANY of this will actually happen -- that is up to OBRA and the race organizers -- but I think it's important to have as much feedback as possible. Again, please send your responses to my email address rather than to the whole OBRA list. I appreciate everyone's willingness to explore this issue thoroughly.
Thanks again! --Beth
