Cherry Blossom Cycling Classic is Back!!!
Sorella Forte and Breakaway Promotions are proud to announce that registration is officially open for the 2010 Cherry Blossom Cycling Classic. We are also excited that we have a new title sponsor for this year. Water's Edge Health and Wellness, Mid Columbia Medical Center's newest facility will serve as the races title sponsor. Due to open this spring Water's Edge will provide state of the art services in physical therapy, health and fitness, rehabilitation, and the new cutting edge sports physiology lab.
New for 2010
We have a tremendous event lined up this year that is sure to please nearly everyone! Gone for 2010 will be the epic Columbia Gorge Road Race with the massive 7 mile climb. Unfortunately some bloggers, (Kenji) did not paint a very rosy picture of the beautiful climb in its entire splendor. After hearing comments like burning legs, forsaken hill, demoralizing and something about a pony we knew we had to make some changes. After all this is not June and it is not the Mt. Hood Cycling Classic! Instead we will be running the Orchard Run Circuit Race in its place. This new course features a roller coaster ride through the cherry orchards above The Dalles that will be in full bloom. Views of Mt. Adams, Mt. Hood and the Columbia River will greet riders as they power up a series of short big ring climbs and over rolling terrain. For the Pro 1-2 Men, Pro 1-2 Women, CAT 3 Men and Masters Men you will have a chance to tackle the dirt road climb of Pleasant Ridge (part of an extended circuit loop to the course). This in an incredibly fast and smooth 1.4 mile section of dirt road that is sure to be a marquee section of the course.
Registration
Registration is now open. We are offering an early registration discount of $10 for anyone who registers before February 25th. Registration will remain open until April 15th. After April 15th riders wanting to participate will pay a $20 late fee. Riders may register at packet pickup on Thursday evening April 22nd but no registrations will be accepted after that. For those of you who crash and burn before the race we will give full refunds up to April 15th (less the online service charge).
