In case you haven't seen this:

The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, Oregon*Southwest
Washington*Idaho*Montana Chapter announces a new event to fight
blood-borne cancers in 2010. The Race to Anyplace cycling competition
will take place Saturday, February 27 from 9 AM to 3 PM. The Race to
Anyplace is a stationery / spin bike race which will be held at
Multnomah Athletic Club (1849 SW Salmon St. Portland OR).

Oregon, as one of the most active cycling states in the nation, is a
perfect location for this cancer treatment fundraiser. Sarah Varner,
Executive Director, explains "Oregonians are avid cyclists, but winter
is traditionally a pretty dismal time to be out on the road. We think
the Race to Anyplace will be a great way for all those cyclists to
support LLS and have fun. Plus, if you're not an avid cyclist, the
relay aspect means you can still come out and spend just 15 minutes
pedaling for the cause -- be part of the fun without the hills and
rain!"
The Race to Anyplace is six hour-relay race, comprised of twenty-four
15 minute heats. Teams of four to twelve riders compete. Team members
keep the bike in motion through the entire six hours, handing off
riding responsibility every 15 minutes. Teams compete with one
another for the most miles in six hours and the highest funds raised.
Each team pays a registration fee and can raise additional funds
through online donations or sponsorships.

Race to Anyplace participants compete for many reasons. Some race for
the competition; some for the camaraderie. All, though, race for the
most important reason: to help blood cancer patients live longer,
better lives.

Registration for this event is currently open. A $600 team
registration fee covers registration for a team up to 12 riders.
Additional riders may register for $50 per person. Registration is
currently open and will close February 19. Total space is limited to
25 teams.
Registration can be done at the event website: RaceToAnyplace.org/OR
or by contacting the event coordinator, Audrey Sheppard, at
971-230-2195 or at audrey.sheppard@lls.org.

The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society (LLS.org), with 66 chapters in the
United States and Canada, is the world’s largest voluntary health
organization dedicated to funding blood cancer research and providing
education and patient services. Since its founding in 1949, LLS has
invested more than $600 million in research specifically targeting
leukemia, lymphoma and myeloma.
