I strongly encourage anyone looking to have work done on their house to hire a licensed contractor. It's a $1000 fine for both parties, the owner and the illegal contractor if you are caught. Not to mention that the reason those of us who are licensed and bonded costs more is to protect you and us.
It's not apples to apples just like a vanilla and a specialized aren't the same. You want good quality it costs more.
You don't drive your car without insurance do you? Why gamble with your most important investment. It's costs legitimate contractors thousands of dollars every year to carry good insurance and bonding.
Certainly small repairs aren't as critical, but use good judgement when making hiring decisions.

I have 22 years experience as a roofer. My employer has very little work right now.
I am in need of a 56cm CX bike for myself and a CX bike for my 11 year old son who is about 4'10" tall. I really don't have any money to spend at this time but would be willing to roof anything or do roof repair work. I would gladly accept bikes as payment. I am in a position to offer work at much lower prices than a roofing company would charge since I have no overhead. Other things I do are moss removal, gutter cleaning, and general handyman work. I have a long list of references. If you want a licensed, bonded contractor, my boss would be willing to be the middle man but that will bring the price up. Leland Jossy 503-329-2660
