Hello all,
On behalf of Scott Goldstein and Cameron Bittle, the promoters of Kings
Valley Road Race, I would like to bring to your attention that they are
planning on holding 2 separate women's fields: 1/2/3 and 4.
The TAI women's team are especially excited about this, and are planning to
provide the support for the 1/2/3 field to allow this to happen.
We highly encourage ALL levels of racers to come out and support this race.
This course is a great course, and in the past we have seen a pretty large
women's field. We are hoping that by splitting the fields, we can see even
more women out there than in the past years, including a larger field of Cat
4 women. Also, this is part of the Oregon Cup series, so we hope to gather
a challenging group of senior women to participate!
Please pass the word along to all your lady friends! The flier for the race
will be out before too long with more information, so rally the troops!
Thanks!
Karey Miles

Hey OBRA,
Co-Motion Cycles has put together a slideshow of available demo and show
bikes we have in stock ready to sell. Click on the link below, take a look
at all the pretty frames and complete bikes we have to offer and give me a
call at the number below or shoot me an email.
For those of you that don't know Co-Motion Cycles, we are a custom frame
builder specializing in tandem, touring and racing frames. We are based in
Eugene, OR and have been in business for 22 years. All manufacturing is done
in-house, including CNC'ing of dropouts, bb shells, head tubes, steerer
tubes, etc. We do all painting in house as well.
If you are interested in any of these frames or bikes, have questions on
sizing, fit and options. Let us know. We can arrange delivery through a
local Co-Motion Cycles Authorized Dealer to make purchase and delivery easy
for you.

If you didn't notice- we've made a change to the home page. There are
little green stars next to some events.
Those designate "beginner friendly" races. These are to help riders
figure out what races would be good for them if they're trying racing
out for the first time.
Find out more here:
http://www.obra.org/beginner_friendly.html
We're working on getting stars on the actual calendar page too- that
should happen shortly. We're also planning on expanding this out to
other disciplines beyond road too.
Thanks to Cheryl Willson, Scott Willson and Jim Anderson for their work on
this!

FYI to the hungry roofer and those that use unlicensed contractors the State

Hi all,
Looking to replace my well used Ritchey WCS stem with a newer one (new
bike). Looking for either a Ritchey WCS (pref the newer one with the
WCS print by the steerer clamp) or a Syntace F99, in a 120mm length,

Let me know what you've got. Thanks!

WEBCYCLERY MOVIE NIGHT @ McMENAMINS
WOMEN OF DIRT
McMenamins Old St. Francis School Movie Theater
Bend, Oregon
9:00 p.m. | $5 per person | 21 & over
This one if for the ladies...
WebCyclery Movie Night at McMenamins and the Bend Bellas bring you an entire
mountain bike film starring only women! Women Of Dirt is a unique look into
the world of womens downhill racing, dirt jumping and freeriding.
Join us February 23rd for a special movie night that celebrates the mountain
bike while featuring the women who love them. Women of Dirt is a beautiful
and energetic film that opens a window into an awesome world that's not
overrun by hairy dudes.
Featuring Tammy Donahugh, Stephanie Nychka, Cierra Smith, Emily Johnston,
Lisa Myklak, Jill Kintner, Leana Gerrard, Dawn Cashen, Katrina Strand, Kathy
Pruitt, and Darcy Turenne.
Kevin Gorman, a film critic known for his thumbs-up and thumbs-down reviews
with his brother and fellow critic, Mean Todd, has praised Women Of Dirt and
heralded it as "The sweetest womens-only mountain biking movie ever!" Mean
Todd continued the accolades and added, "As long as you're going to be at
McMenamins drinking a beer, you might was well be watching Women Of Dirt at
the same time."
While WebCyclery Movie Night at McMenamins is a monthly fund raiser for
Central Oregon Trail Alliance (cotamtb.com), it is mostly an excuse to get
together with a theater full of like-minded cyclists to watch a great
bicycle movie, have a cold beverage, raise some money for local trails, and
maybe win a door prize.

Color is kind of a deep red...Merlot perhaps? I know my odds are long, but

Kenji and other instructors...
I think this instruction session was very positive. I know how insecure I
was when I went to my first cyclocross race. I only had a vague idea of what
to expect. Unless you know someone who has given you some prior knowledge
about racing, you don't know squat. The instruction you provided, plus
making the new riders feel welcome is HUGE! Even though I do not race on
the road, I personally thank you for doing this workshop. New OBRA members
and energy will be the result.

I have a very lightly used wheelset for sale.
Rear hub is a black annodized white industries ENO disc brake hub. Rim is a
velocity fusion rim powdercoated white w/o a machined brake surface. Spokes
are dt Swiss.
Front hub is a black annodized Velocity mtb disc brake hub with he same rim
and spokes as are on the rear.
Rear hub is 135 spacing. Front hub just the normal 100mm. Rims are 700c. The
wheelset comes with 3 shimano freewheel cogs, 16, 17, 18 teeth. It also
comes with the white industries eccentric disc brake caliper mount to endure
that the disc and caliper have full contact.
Selling it cheap: $275. Retailed for around $500 or more with everything.
Wheel set has about 400 miles on it.
I can through in almost new continental gatorskins for an extra 25 bucks--an
even $300.
Thanks!

I have 22 years experience as a roofer. My employer has very little work
right now.
I am in need of a 56cm CX bike for myself and a CX bike for my 11 year old
son who is about 4'10" tall. I really don't have any money to spend at this
time but would be willing to roof anything or do roof repair work. I would
gladly accept bikes as payment. I am in a position to offer work at much
lower prices than a roofing company would charge since I have no overhead.
Other things I do are moss removal, gutter cleaning, and general handyman
work. I have a long list of references. If you want a licensed, bonded
contractor, my boss would be willing to be the middle man but that will
bring the price up.? Leland Jossy? 503-329-2660

Stage Race Dreams are made of:
Chad has really outdone himself on the design of this one. A challenge for
the 1/2's, and completely accessible for first timers, this stage race is
THE crown jewel, in my opinion, of the racing calendar this year. (ok I'm a
little biased, since I live here). But also- scheduled on Cherry Festival
Weekend - tons of fun stuff for family / entourage and racers with enough
energy left over to party, dance and eat all through the weekend. Beer
garden, parade, dance parties, carnival, pie eating contests and podium
shots in the blooming cherry orchards- what other domestic stage race has
all that?
I rode the new stage II course yesterday - 50 degrees, spring time spin
through beautiful Cherry Orchards on a 6 mile circuit with rollers - like
riding a roller coaster - we are going to be able to tear this one up - big
wide corners and speeds that will just accelerate with each lap. Register
early - I have a feeling registration will close for most categories before
race day!!!

I strongly encourage anyone looking to have work done on their house to hire
a licensed contractor. It's a $1000 fine for both parties, the owner and
the illegal contractor if you are caught. Not to mention that the reason
those of us who are licensed and bonded costs more is to protect you and us.
It's not apples to apples just like a vanilla and a specialized aren't the
same. You want good quality it costs more.
You don't drive your car without insurance do you? Why gamble with your
most important investment. It's costs legitimate contractors thousands of
dollars every year to carry good insurance and bonding.
Certainly small repairs aren't as critical, but use good judgement when
making hiring decisions.
Good luck,
Dan Watson

I'm headed to Long Beach, WA this weekend and wanted to ask the list for a
preferred route. I'll plan to ride the last 60-80 and am wondering which
route you'd recommend between OR-202 (jewell to astoria), US30 (St.
Helens/Rainier to Astoria) or WA-4 (Longview to Long Beach). I'll be riding
solo with bright blinky lights and want to avoid your typical fatal hazards
like logging trucks flying around blind corners.

Hey folks,
The Cherry Pie is filling up. We've got over 210 folks signed up now and
usually hit 400 by race day. The Cat 5A field is full at 50. The 5B field
is about half full. We will turn folks away on race day once we get 50, so
sign up online. Online Registration will close Friday at noon, PST.
The weather looks like mid to low 50's and 30% chance of rain. We've got a
storm moving through Wed-Thur, but should be gone by race day. Winds out of
the south at 10 mph.
Make sure that your OBRA bib number and Team Name are correct on your
registration when you pick up your numbers at registration check in. We are
using our own bibs again this year to facilitate scoring the event, but we
need your OBRA number (road bib #, not your license number by the barcode)
to help OBRA get your results properly recorded in the database.
If you have time, setup your profile with SBO before you register for the
race and you can update all this information there.
We will send out an update soon on the Women 1-2 and 3 situation.
Regards,
Fish

Nathan,
I think OR-202 is probably the best, scenic and low traffic but few
services. US30 has shoulders but is loud.

TeamEstrogen.com sells youth cycling apparel.
http://www.teamestrogen.com/product/kids/c0-atspecialty_01.html
Of the shorts we sell, IMO the best quality chamois can be found in the
Canari Grommet Short: http://www.teamestrogen.com/prodCA_4201.html
Youth apparel varies a lot in size, so be sure to click the sizing chart
tab to make sure you get the right size. The Canari shorts fit kids as
small as 42 pounds or as big as 115 pounds. They are also very
reasonably priced, considering that children tend to outgrow their
clothing more quickly.
Canari Kids Sizing Chart
Size S M L XL
Size 6-7 8 10-12 14-16
Height (inches) 45-49 49.5-53 53.5-58.5 59-64.5
Weight (pounds) 42.5-54 55-72.5 73-95.5 96-115
The other option would be to buy women's XS or Small bibs (or shorts if
that's your preference). Due to the relatively higher cost and the
better quality, this is the best option for the men on the list who are
of slight build. We have a fair number of male customers who shop with
us because they either have a hard time finding men's small's in their
favorite brick-n-mortar shop, or because "small" has vanity sized it's
way up to being too large. We have 4 styles of women's bibs in stock
now.
http://www.teamestrogen.com/product/apparel/bottoms/shorts/bib-shorts/c0
-c1-c24-c117-c15.html Selection in this category will be better in a
month or two when more of our Spring '10 apparel has arrived from our
vendors.
Because we are local (Hillsboro), you order will typically arrive the
next day. We also happily do "will call" for local customers. Will
call must be done over the phone. Call for details.
Hope this helps.

I have the same problem standing at a whopping 5'2" and 105 lbs. I have
had all my luck getting extra small bibs from team kits, i.e. custom
orders. But upon a search I turned up this website:
http://www.aerotechdesigns.com/bibshort.htm#sizes
It appears that they have both Adult XS cycling gear and some youth

Two brand new Black Schwalbe Ultremo R.1 700x23c tires. These are the new
model from Schwalbe. I received these as replacement for the recalled tires
from last year. I've already sorted my tire situation for the year so I have
no need for these. Make me an offer!

Looking to purchase a small cyclocross frameset (or bike if the price is
right). Frame needs to have an effective top tube of around 51/52 cm.

Hello all,
I have for sale a mint condition 2008 Cervelo Soloist carbon bike with
Shimano Dura Ace 7800 components. This is the cleanest, newest looking used
bike in history. The frame is the Soloist Carbon, now the S2, in CSC paint.
Fork is Alpha Q. Shimano Dura Ace 7800 Shifters, derailleurs and brakes.
Shimano Ultegra crank (53/39) 170mm. Shimano Ultegra 6600 wheels (nice
upgrade from stock.) The bike weighs a tick under 16 pounds without pedals.
Under 1000 miles on the frame and derailleurs. Ultegra Wheels have less
than 100 miles.
It's in phenomenal condition. 51cm, 53 cm horizontal top tube.
New rubber, chain and cassette.
Asking $3100.
I have pics if desired.
Email with questions.
Thanks!
Matt

sports events within our county, the WCVA would love to use your photos to
help promote the county as Oregon?s premier sports destination!
