...also - the Map My Ride site can export the ride as a "GPX" format
file if you are a registered member. GPX format is used by most any GPS
unit management software, and mapping software programs (like Topo!, etc.).

I just uploaded the GPX format file into my Magellan Triton GPS without
any problems.

http://bikeroutetoaster.com probably has the most options for being able to upload in one format then spit out another format.

http://gpsies.com does a few less but works well

http://mapmyride.com works

http://bikely.com works too

http://gmap-pedometer.com will download to gpx via an external plug in

If the question was "how to get the crs or tcx file I've already got onto my Garmin?" then I use the Training Center software that came with my Garmin. If that was the question and you need a step by step on how to do it drop me an email and I'll be happy to walk you through it.

Thanks for the replies. That was quick!
For the record:
On the mapmyride site there is a "Route" pulldown and right there there
is a save to GPS or save to Garmin option.
Also for the record: people seem to agree that http://www.gpsies.com/
is a better mapping site.
thx again,

Stephen,

It looks like the Map My Ride site has an option to share the mapped
entries as a KML (Google Earth) file type. Google Earth should be able
to export your map to your GPS. If not, several mapping software
programs (eg National Geographic Topo!) can ingest a KML file type, and
then upload the map to your GPS. Your GPS may also come with
management software, which can ingest a KML file.

Google Earth is freely available from: http://earth.google.com/

Good luck!

I mapped out the Cherry Pie course on Map My Ride. I made it based on
their PDF map so hopefully its accurate.
I made it two laps because I'm doing two laps. Your mileage may vary.
Does anyone know how to get the ride data out of my browser and into my
Garmin? I probably should have checked into that before I started.
