Fischer, Jim E (Corvallis)
Hey folks,
First off, I want to thank everyone for coming out for another Cherry Pie! It was a record breaker yet again...over 535 racers tested themselves over the rolling hills north east of Corvallis! (And the weather was better than expected.)
Regarding the Cat 3s...I wasn't at the staging area and didn't hear about it until the end of the day. The reports I'm reading on the chat do not agree with what I see in my results. From what I can tell, we had 95 racers enter the Cat 3s. 5 DNS (did not show) and there are 8 for which I have no information. The packets must have been picked up or they would have been marked DNS. Most of these 8 riders were from Ironclad, and this is consistent with the posts as it sounds like it was a team who were mostly affected. If you are one of these riders and would like a refund, please e-mail Heather Paris (heather-faye@comcast.net) with your mailing address. The other 87 riders managed to be ready to go with the start, early as claimed, so we still had a great showing for the field.
We are sorry several riders missed their start. In the future, we are planning to use the large OBRA clocks to make it clear to everyone what time it is.
At all races, pre-race instructions are given 5 to 10 minutes before each field starts. The briefing describes issues specific to each course, rule enforcement highlights, number placements, etc. Even seasoned racers are advised to not skip this briefing regardless of how much racing they've done.
Regards,
Jim Fischer
