Hi All,
Just wanted to let you know that the Roseburg RR (May 30) has been renamed the Umpqua Road Race. The schedule should soon have the name changed and a link to more information.
Here's some details:
1) The race stages at a school and we have access to clean, well lit, indoor bathrooms. Wait time to "go" should be at a minimum. And there will be running water for washing your hands (you do wash your hands don't you?)
2) The course should make for an interesting finish. The major hill on the course will definitely break the pack up, but there is enough flat section back to the finish that I'm really not sure that the climbers will be able to stay away from a strong chasing pack. I can't wait to see how it plays out.
3) There are plenty of other things to do, so that you can make a weekend of it. On Saturday, there is the Umpqua Ultimate Bike Ride (www.purplefootgang.com), that would be a great easy ride the day before. It has something to offer for the whole family. Wildlife Safari is nearby (http://www.wildlifesafari.net/) It is way better than any standard zoo I've been too. There are lots of country roads to explore on the bike. We can recommend some if you would like. If you are into wine, there are a bunch of local wineries with tasting rooms.
Anyway, check out the Umpqua Road Race, and put it on your calendar for Memorial Day Weekend.
