For those of you who do not live and ride in the SW hills, press Delete now.
The City of Portland, or at least one of its employees in the PDOT, has decided to install a "safety island" at the intersection of SW Pendelton and Cheltenham Drive. There was no announcement, no public meetings. It just appeared. For those who ride the area, coming down Cheltenham Court has gotten a lot more "interesting." And given that there are 10 possible traffic streams in this one very gnarly intersection, that means very interesting indeed.
There is a petition movement to have the island removed. If you want to learn more, drop me a line and I'll send you a couple small (~70K) jpg files and contact information.
