If they were wannabes, the chance they are on this list is even less than
1%.
Did you see any team jerseys? Anybody with a sponsors name on their back
should especially courteous.

A note to all you racers out there:

99% of the OBRA folks I've run into over the years are conscientious, courteous and safety-oriented. All of you, kindly disregard and delete this message and the following vitriolic rant it contains-it is by no means intended for you.

To the other 1%: I was overtaken in a most reckless manner by some of you, a bunch of racer wanna-bes, as we descended Thompson towards Cornell today. Why on earth your fearless leader felt the need to burst past me with nearly zero clearance and without audible warning, to the inside of the lane as oncoming vehicular traffic approached us, is quite beyond me. Since I caught him rather easily while still descending to inform him that I was inclined to put him into a ditch, he couldn't have been in THAT much of a hurry. I was looking back as I descended, and knew you all were around somewhere, but it is your responsibility to engineer a safe pass, which includes an audible warning and safe distance between our bikes, neither of which he gave. I've raced in packs before and have dealt with your type, so I wasn't freaked out... just pissed. Much to my dismay, I learned upon conversing with my wife that you passed her in a similarly unsafe manner a little before passing me. At least you gave her a "passing" call, but this hardly relieves you of the responsibility of actually doing so in a safe manner, which was apparently too much to ask.

My wife has NOT raced in packs, was completely freaked out, and feared (at the time you passed her) for her safety if not life, all because you're trying to crown someone in your group the King of February. YOUR RIDING, and the riding of others like you, is the reason cyclists in general, and racers in particular, get a bad rap. I don't know who you are and I don't care-just stay away from me, my wife and all of other responsible riders/racers when you're on the road.

I don't ever want to see any of you posers passing my wife the way you passed me today. It will upset me, and I am not known for thinking clearly when I'm upset.

Out.
