Does anyone know what the event was that had a mob of people coming down onto the bike/pedestrian path by the Hawthorne Bridge yesterday about noon? I was riding back from Oaks Park and suddenly there is this mob of people carrying blue umbrellas. All of them were open. It was pretty hairy for a while. Bicycles, runners, and pedestrians going in both directions. A very steep and rocky drop off into the river on one side. And a horde of totally oblivious twits with open umbrellas trying to walk four abreast.

I wasn't able to find a reference to it in the Oregonian. What the #@!! is going on? And people complain about bicyclists!

I somehow don't think that this was a sanctioned event.
