Here is some info on the Echo Red to Red that is coming up this Saturday. Conditions on the trail are dry and a less aggressive tire similar to Kenda Small Block/Michelin XC Dry/Schwable Racing Ralph should work fine. Suggested Single speed gearing is 2-1 for a 26 and slightly lower for 29. Local riders have been having success on 32x20 or 21 for 29ers.
Registration/packet pickup will start at 8:30 at the Masonic Hall on Dupont street. Start will be on at the intersection of Dupont and Main street within walking distance of registration.
Racers will be let out in three waves instead of the mass roll out from last year. Cat 1/Pro/Single-speed will roll out at 11:00. Cat 2 will roll out at 11:15 and Cat 3 will roll at 11:30
Cat 3 juniors will have a shortened but challenging version of the Cat 2/3 course that will be around 14 miles. All other juniors will follow there regular category courses.
The 2010 Echo Red to Red Cat 1/Pro Single Speed course will feature a all new section along the Umatilla River and will have multiple log and wood planked water crossings. Echo Hills Trail-builders have been working very hard to complete this new section of trail and it should be a real treat for the 2010 racers.
The town of Echo has welcomed this race into there community and are excited to share their town with northwest mountain bikers please stop by local businesses and check out it's many nationally registered historic buildings.
Sno Road Winery and Echo West Vineyards have also been a big part in bringing this event to fruition. With out their land there would be no trails and no race please let them know how much we appreciate letting mountain bikers ride and build trails on their soil. All Category winners will receive a bottle of 2007 Cabernet Sauvignon made in Echo from grapes grown around the 2010 Echo Red to Red course. Sno Road Winery will also be open for tasting and will be selling this and other wines grown in historic Echo Oregon
