I enjoy shooting at the bike races but I rarely get the chance- simply because I prefer to be out there racing. I can tell you that the photographers dedicated to taking pictures at our events put an incredible amount of time/money/and effort into it. If at all possible every one of us should try to support them when we can... they provide a great service to the racing community.
And... don't hesitate to contact the photographer before a race. The chances of getting all good shots of 300 plus riders in a day are slim but if they have individual riders that they know want shots they will get them... and good ones.
