Thank you for being their spark! From your note we can tell the passion for
cycling has been lit. Thanks for being there with them during the rough as
well as fun times.

I just wanted to publicly thank everyone
who helped with this project as we have had
a very good response from the OBRA membership and have received more than enough jerseys, shorts for most of the kids and the racers now have shoes/pedals.
The OBRA board of directors also gave a very generous
gift of $500 to help with entry fees and other equipement. The boys on the new racing team have been ecstatic and have been training very hard. They were planning on just trying to do the local Umpqua RR, but now they are planning to race all summer and we are even looking into cyclocross (They would need cyclocross or mtn. bikes though) I will be posting a page on the Umpqua Velo website with pics and results soon.

OBRA has to be the best state racing association out there and the kids have sent out thank you cards to all who helped.

Hello fellow cyclists, my name is David MacFarlane and I am currently the president of the umpqua velo club here in Roseburg.
We help a local cycling program for at-risk youths here at Roseburg HS called "Step-up" It helps kids who are struggling for one reason or another to make it through HS by offering them a more supervised atmosphere and participation in things like our cycling program as a reward.

Roseburg will be having a road race this year called the Umpqua RR here on May 30th. There are 7 kids from the step-up who plan to race at this event. The problem is that most of these kids have little money and we would like to provide these kids who want to race this year with some equipment that they should have. They have bikes, but they ride with only gym shorts and plain flat pedals (some have toe-clips) we would like to get them cycling shorts, shoes and either road or mtb pedals. We are looking for used or repairable items.

1. Adam Jacks: shorts: XLG shoes:45
2. Kiona Siewell: shorts: med shoes:48
3. Pete Herd: shorts: med shoes:43
4. Anthony Brinsfield: shorts: med shoes:44
5. Chris Ritter: shorts: medium shoes: 44
6. Eddie Swindell: shorts: medium shoes 46
7. Enosh Keller: shorts: med shoes: 44

All donations are tax deducible and can be shipped to me
at 1689 Nw Lynwood, Roseburg, OR 97471 or I will be at the Kings Valley RR and we can arrange to meet there. or call 541-680-7051 or email revart@mcsi.net

Thanks
