Mt. Hood Cycling Classic

Good Morning OBRA master racers,

With just under a week left to register for this year's Cherry Blossom Cycling Classic I wanted to give you an important update regarding the Master Men's race. Salmon Cyclery in The Dalles has provided the event a set of Zipp 404 Tubular Wheels to be given to the winner of the Masters 40+ race. In addition Garmin is providing a new Edge 500 to the masters prize list as well. All combined Master Men will be competing for a total of $3500 in cash and merchandise at this year's event.

I also wanted to take the time to clarify the scoring for the masters event. The masters 40+ field will race together and be scored together on all stages and in the final GC. In addition to this competition we will also have a special prizes and podium presentation for the top 3 masters on GC who are 50+ years of age. IF a master who is 50+ also finishes in the top three of the 40+ they are elidgable for both prizes and competitions. In my mind anyone who can beat the age curve should get double the prizes. Please understand this is my opinion right or wrong and should not be the subject of a huge string of emails debating master controversy.

Finally just a quick note to all you masters who were scared by last year's 7-Mile climb. With the new course we have reduced the amount of climbing for this year's event and made it a more neutral course. So sign up today. You will have a blast at the 2010 Cherry Blossom Cycling Classic!!!
