Jim Fischer
Hey folks,
I and several of my team mates ventured out on the Cherry Blossom courses
today for a preview for next weekend. I ran into the promoter, Chad Sperry,
along the route and he asked how it was, and I thought I'd pass along my
observations.
In short, a very fun set of courses. We rode a lap on all of them, and I
think it will be a lot of fun. If you go up this week to preview, don't
park at the Petersburg school. Instead, park in front of the old white
school building (think "Little House on the Prairie") you pass on the way
into the driveway for the existing brick and mortar building. There's a
gravel lot out front.
The TT course is very cool. It winds along a creek with plenty of shelter
from the typical winds that blow through the area. It wasn't blowing for us
today, but who knows for next weekend?
The courses south of The Dalles up in the hills will be hard. The
gravel/dirt section is very smooth and a great climb. Some of the descents
are technical, but not overly so.no brakes required.but just barely. Very
fast and fun.
If you are on the fence about attending, and registration is still open, I
suggest you give it a go. I think it will be very fun for new and
experienced racers, alike.
See you next weekend!
