OBRA-land,



Given this was a first time effort, I feel that feedback and follow up with regards to both the cycling and local community will help to ensure that a chance for Larch Mtn 2003 will occur.



First, thank you so much for all the kind words and emails. The one thing I did learn is that no matter how organized a promoter is, absolutely nothing will happen without the help of government officers, OBRA officials, and our selfless volunteers who endlessly help each other out. A special public thanks to my Team Oregon family, who answered my call for volunteers and showed up in force whether they were racing or not.



Conversations with the local community contacts was very well received. Racers were perceived as polite, friendly, respectful, and very aware. The support to the local community such as the Corbett Country Market and a local fruit stand added to a person-to-person relationship that makes racers seem even more personable. The only negative comment thus far was from one local driver, who on her way down Larch Mtn Rd came around a blind corner and found a group of riders 5 abreast on the road. Please remember that when the race is over, or you are not between the lead and wheel cars, you are not protected and cars may not be aware you on the road. Single file and to the right is always a best when possible because, if you can't see a car coming, they can't see you either. I will be meeting with the local community board in early July to review this years event and discuss the possibility of Larch Mtn 2003.



Your chance for feedback is two-fold. First, I am planning to write a recap to submit to Northwest Race Report and would be happy to include any quotes, comments, or stories you might have. Second any thoughts or suggestions about this race or next year would be appreciated as well.
