I know that others have posted about similar positive experiences at
Transvision to this list before, but it's worth reiterating. I recently
received prescription Rudy Project cycling glasses from Hillsdale
Eyecare (Formerly Transvision) and have to say that they've made a
world of difference for me.
Heather Dudzik and Dr Edmonds have made sports eyewear their specialty,
and it shows - they were an absolute pleasure to deal with.
My eyes have never been happy with contact lenses, but until this
latest pair, I'd been unsatisfied with prescription sunglasses. In the
past I was limited to smaller lenses or would suffer from distortion
along the periphery, where the lenses curved. Rudy Project has new
technology allowing them to make lenses with significant wrap-around
for higher prescriptions (I'm about a -3.0 to -3.25), without the
distortion. The lenses are super-sharp and I opted for a transition
tint that darkens based on UV rays, from clear to moderate.
My previous, lesser quality prescription race specs met their demise
when I caught a hand to the face on the stair-runup @ Cyclocross Nats
in Bend. I've opted for a more solid, enclosed frame design that seems
bombproof for things like 'cross (the Masterminds).
Hillsdale Eyecare offers a discount to OBRA members and they've helped
lots of cyclists already. In addition to Rudy, they have sports glasses
from Maui Jim, Oakley, and Smith. They're well worth checking out!
Their brand new office is @ 1522 SW Sunset Blvd.

I'll be posting a more fleshed-out review of the glasses for the
Cyclocross Magazine website soon, but if you see me at a race and want
to check out the specs, I'll be happy to show them off.
