Hello Parents of Strider Riders,

I am looking for kids and their parents to join us and participate in
Portland's Rose Festival Jr. Parade.   The kid's parade is in its 74th
year, and is the largest and oldest parade in the country!  The parade is
Wednesday, June 9th at 1pm.

The parade route is one mile.  Kids must be able to ride this distance on
their Strider.  Parents will accompany their child on foot.  Strollers are
welcome.  Kids and parents in costume are encouraged, along with decorated
bikes and helmets.  Streamers, flowers, wigs, and other fun, creative stuff
is great!

Formation begins at 12:30pm, with the parade starting at 1pm.  Plan on
being on the parade route from about 12:30pm to 2:30pm or later.  I will be
there at noon to secure our place in the parade-the volunteers at the start
assign your place on the spot.

Please do not be later than 12:30pm.  The start location is NE
Sacramento/NE 52nd, and the parade travels down NE Sandy Blvd.  Check in
with the volunteers at the start, and they will direct you to where
Portland Strider Bikes is in the lineup.  We hope to be near the start due
to the short attention span of toddlers!

Plan for any kind of weather (sunscreen, raincoats, good walking shoes,
etc.).  All kids must have helmets on or they will not be allowed to ride
with our group.

We are also looking for a couple of volunteers to hold signs that show our
support for our charity, Miles From Molly.

The following website offers helpful maps, including the parade route and
formation/staging area:

If you would like to participate in this fun event, you must contact us
ahead of time.  Please email us your phone number and how many kids/adults
in your group.  Thanks, and we hope to see you soon!

Thanks,
Janelle Scruggs
