Hi All
I am passing this info for the promoter.
This will be a great race and it is for good causes
I would sign up asap...because there is a cap...things sell out trust me...right now I have lots of people that want into MBO, but we are sold out for August.
Hope to see you there
The FAT55 has 8,000 vertical feet of climbing. Start is in front of Oakridge High School at 8:30 am on September 18, 2010. It should be quite a spectacle with the peloton sprinting through Uptown Oakridge and making a left on Oak St., just before the pub. Up Dead Mtn, down Flat Cr. trail. Left on Salmon Creek Rd. a little loop on the Warrior Trail, then down to Fish Hatchery Bridge. Cross the bridge onto the jetty, up to Salmon Creek Trail, upstream to The Wall. Down on ETC to Dunning Rd. Back to Fish Hatchery Rd. maybe a left on new Canal Trail if its done by then. Down Salmon Cr. jetty trail to Greenwaters Park to half-way point. Cross the James Tharp Memorial Bridge, left on 5852 LaDuke Rd to 21. Right on 21 to 2102. Left on 2102 to left on 2102-101. Up 101 to top of Larison Creek. Down Larison Creek to 21. Back to 2102 to top of Larison Rock. Down Larison Rock trail to right on 5852. Back across bridge into Greenwaters Park finish. Whew! I'm tired
out just writing this! So that's a total of 6 local trails, 7 if the Canal Trail is used.
Anyway, 45% singletrack, 26% blacktop and 29% gravel/doubletrack. And believe me, the blacktop feels pretty good in between the trails.
There is a 155 rider cap, so if riders are holding off thinking they have more time and they want to wait until the last minute to save money, that is a risky game. It could fill up quickly at some point and we would rather that it be now to make the process for all of us a lot smoother.
This is going to be a great annual event. With all profits after expenses going to Greater Oakridge Area Trails Stewards (GOATS), our local youth uni cycle club (about 30 grade school kids) and into the Oakridge/Westfir communities this race is for a good cause. We think riders just need a little wake-up call. Eugene and I have invested hundreds of hours of our time already, there is a lot of buzz in the community already about this race, but we need riders to commit.
