Off topic: Water Temperatures?

Thanks to all who replied. You all seem to know lots of information about
lots of things and being outdoor minded, I figured a few may have the info I
was looking for.

The reason for my asking is I was curious about the local rivers and lakes
at different times of the year for triathlon swim training, rafting,
boating, waterskiing etc so I could better gauge wetsuit options and just
for my own curiosity.

Thanks again to those who replied.

Cheers

Justin

Yes, the USGS website has a lot of this info. Unfortunately, funding
for gages/water quality monitoring has really dropped off, so there
aren't nearly as many sites that have realtime info or temp.

But, give tis a try. If you click on a station, then look under the
"available parameters" box and sometimes temp will be an option to
select.

If you are looking for high mountain lakes, you may check the US
Forest Service. I work for the Army Corps of Engineers, so if you are
looking for temps in one of our reservoirs, I may be able to dig that
up.

Good luck!

I'd recommend checking around on this site. There is a lot of information
available about local river heights, and I would assume that they are
monitoring temperature also.

I'm not sure why a list of bicycle racers seems like a good source for
that info either. Sure, we're a diverse group - but that may be
expecting a bit much.

Hmmm, not sure why you are looking for the water temps but I don't think
this data point is actively observed.

When I was fishing for salmon and steelhead, I used to take the water
temperature with a thermometer that hooked onto a swivel on my line.

Other that for fishing purposes, I'm not sure why you'd want that info.
But, maybe my view is very limited... J

Does anyone know of a good source to find out what water temperatures
are of the lakes and rivers around Oregon / Washington? I have searched
google but not finding much.

Any info is appreciated.

Thanks

Justin
