The Bend Junior Cycling Development Camp will run for two full days on
Memorial Day Weekend, May 29 & 30, 2010. The camp offers two
disciplines; choose from road cycling or freeride cycling. This camp
is presented by the Bend Endurance Academy, Cog Wild Bicycle Tours and
the ALLRIDE Academy in a combined effort to promote junior cycling
development and race preparation in Central Oregon.

"Last year, juniors came from all over the country to compete at Road
Nationals in Bend," said Bill Warburton, camp organizer, and venue
director for USA Cycling Elite/U23/Junior Road National Championships,
"but we had very few locals competing. I hope this camp will help
prepare our juniors to race bikes at that level in the future. We
added freeride to the camp because the work of local trailbuilders and
riders has grown the population of dirt jumpers exponentially over the
last few years and we want to make sure those kids are part of cycling
development on a broader scale."

The road cycling camp is open to ages 12-23 and will incorporate
drills, skills, presentations and techniques to help improve
confidence and knowledge of racing. Riders will also get a guided
preview of each course from this year's National Championships, coming
to Bend June 23-27. Riders and teams from outside of Bend are invited
to this camp to help them better prepare for Nationals. Riders must be
able to ride 4 hours each day and have some racing experience.

Freeride cycling includes dirt jumping, riding on enhanced terrain and
spending time with both wheels in the air. The freeride camp is for
riders aged 12-23 who have experience jumping but want to learn how to
progress more quickly and safely. Pro rider, Kirt Voreis will be the
main instructor and trail locations include the Slalom Loop and The
Lair. Riders will learn from video review, peers, pros and each other
in a relaxed, team atmosphere.

Cost is $55 per day or $100 for the weekend. Lunches are included. To
register, go to www.BendEnduranceAcademy.org/camp or call Bill
Warburton at 541.335.1346 for more information.
