Important Mt. Hood Cycling Classic Update on Lodging CAT 2 and More

Mt. Hood Cycling Classic

2010-05-18

Dear NW Racers,

The time is now to book rooms and register for the 2010 Mt. Hood Cycling Classic. We have a tremendous event lined up this year with some stellar new courses. The Mt. Adams road race course is still buried under snow but when it melts out it is going to be unreal!

Registration

Regular registration closes on May 22nd at midnight Eastern Time. After that there is a late fee of $25 that will be included with all registration closing by May 28th. For packet pickup details please go to http://www.mthoodcyclingclassic.com/registration/ for times, dates, and locations.

Lodging

We currently have rooms blocked at the Best Western Hood River Inn, Cooper Spur Mountain Resort, and Comfort Inn in Troutdale. Best Western and Comfort Inn are both race headquarters for the event and were packet pickup will be located as well as nightly results. All of these establishments are long time partners and have given tremendous support for the event. Please book with them today. All are holding rooms at discounted rates but after tomorrow the rooms and the rates will be let go back to the general public. Best Western Hood River Inn is offering a special riders gift pack of a custom pint glass, socks, and event shirt for any competitor who stays at their location. Simply show your reciept at the MHCC merchandise tent and pick up your race pack. Lodging info can be found at http://www.mthoodcyclingclassic.com/race-info-2/accomodations/

CAT 2 Men

Due to the lack of interest and low turnout for the event from CAT 2 Men we are going to combine the CAT 2 men with the Pro-1 Men's race. That means all of you who complained about the short course on stage 2 now get the full meal deal ;) If you are a CAT 2 continue to register seperately at the existing price and we will simply combine the fields come race day. We will also continue to honor the same price for your registration as a way to say thanks for your patience and understanding given the situation.

Race Update

Flew over the race courses this past Friday and they are looking good. We still have about 10 miles of snow on the new Mt. Adams Road Race course but weather is looking good for melt out. The Wy'East stage only had a 1/3 of a mile of snow left and I am sure after this past weekend it is gone so anyone wanting to preride that course, go for it. Our Pro-1 men's race is going to be amazing. We have a great lineup setup with yesterday's KOM leader at the Tour of California, Paul Mach with Bissell, coming back to defend his title against a tough UnitedHealthcare squad. It is going to be an amazing race so whether you race our not come out and watch these amazing athletes.

Sincerely,
Chad
