Someone stole my gf's Kona Jake by cutting the thick telephone pole guy wire it was locked to! So, she's in the market for a new touring/commuter setup. She'd like something with fender and rack mounts, and a sort of upright geometry since this won't be a race bike. It should be modern, ie not an old Schwinn. Steel or aluminum is cool. Finally, it needs to be middle of the road cheap and sturdy enough to be beaten on without regrets. Think: Kona Jake, Redline Conquest Classic, Surly Cross/Travellers Check or Pacer.
