Ben Rasche
Does anyone have any recent knowledge of this course and just how much of it is under snow?
Thanks in advance, Ben

> Subject: [OBRA Chat] Six Hours of Mt Hood (Sun 6/13): Some Updates!
>
> Hello everyone!
>
> For those of you who didn't receive the email I sent out in Sunday, I'd like to give you a quick heads-up that we are just two weeks away from the inaugural edition of the Six Hours of Mount Hood (http://www.portlandracing.com/6hrs/), a fun and all-new XC MTB relay race, where racers will do multiple, up-and-down laps on a varied 6-to-8 mile loop at Skibowl East.
>
> Each lap, racers will get treated on great views of Mt Hood, a fully-stocked aid station, DJ-ed music and non-stop race announcing (featuring Luciano "The Voice of Short Track",) and a ton of cheers from their fellow racers. You can choose to race as a multi-person team (3 to 6 riders), as a 2-person team, or solo.

> 1) Pre-registration deadline extended until Friday 6/5!
> We have extended the deadline for pre-registration until the end of the week. In other words: if you haven't registered yet and still would like to save the $10 day-of-race "convenience fee", then get your registration form (plus waiver and check) in the mail asap and make sure we receive it by Friday. Note that only solo racers or two-person teams will have the option to register on race day (from 7:00 to 9:00am). So, if you are thinking of racing with a team of 3 or more people, get on it today!

> 2) Course Description and Course Map:
> The course will feature some of the best trails that Skibowl has to offer. Start, finish, and food/aid station will be located at Multorpor Lodge. The estimated elevation gain per lap is about 400'. The race (and each subsequent lap) will start with a clockwise loop around Multorpor Mountain, featuring a short climb on the Summit Trail, followed by a flying descend along the Powerline Trail (the reverse of the long uphill grind of years past). Racers will continue their way around Multorpor Mountain via the Rhodondendron Trail, then climb out via Optimator Trail, followed by a descent to the bottom of the Multorpor chairlift. From there, you'll weave your way through the woods along the cool South Trail towards the Skibowl West base area (longtime staging area for previous Ski Bowl MTB events) and then loop back via the equally fun West Summit Trail, all the way back to Multorpor Lodge, where you - or your team mate - will start the next lap. So, no Horse Trail, Low Road, Hig
> h Road, Gnar-Gnar, Fire-Hydrant, or any other sustained climbs or technical descents. This course will have plenty of flow and should be fun to race for all levels of racers. Still, according to Erik Tonkin, who designed the course, "it will not be an easy loop -- I'd say the single-track is relentless." If you are not familiar with the Skibowl trails, just check the course map to get an idea of what to expect:

> 3) Race Support:
> Throughout the race we'll have a fully stocked food station, featuring energy drink, Larabar nutrition bars, fresh fruit, and PB&J sandwiches. In the morning hours before the race, the friendly folks of Multorpor Lodge will be serving FREE, freshly-brewed Nossa Familia coffee. Throughout the day, they will also be selling a variety of other drinks and hot food. Post-race, racers will also enjoy a free cup of chili and $1 beers (at least for those over 21), courtesy of our beer sponsor Hopworks Urban Brewing.
>
> 4) Pre-Riding, Lodging and Camping:
> The course will be open for pre-riding on Saturday June 12, from 2pm to 6pm. For those who plan to come out the day before the race or want to make it a multi-day weekend, there are various lodging options close to the race venue, including the popular Collins Lake Resort (less than a mile from the start) and various Forest Service campgrounds, including the ones at Camp Creek and Trillium Lake.
>
> 5) Prizes & Raffle: While there won't be any cash on the line, the top-3 podium finishers in each category will go home with some very classy trophies. And in good tradition we'll wrap up the day with a raffle, featuring more than $1,200 in prizes. A big thanks to Erik Tonkin of Sellwood Cycle Repair and Petr Kakes of Mt Hood Skibowl for making this race happen, and to all other sponsors who have stepped up with their generous support, including Chris King Precision Components, Hopworks Urban Brewing, Nossa Familia Coffee and Larabar.
>
> That's it for now. This is the first MTB endurance race of the season and it should be a fun one. Come out to race, to cheer and to enjoy a fun day on the mountain with friends. I am looking forward to seeing you all!
