Westside Regional Trail Open House Tonight

Following message is from Wendy Kroger of THPRD:

THPRD is hosting an Open House tonight at Conestoga Rec Center, 9985
SW 125th Ave. in Beaverton, Room 202, beginning at 6:30pm. The focus
is on the status of segments 1, 4, and 7 of the trail. There will be
maps and knowledgeable folks on hand to discuss the status of these
segments.

Segment 1 is between Scholls Ferry and Barrows Road. This segment
has issues regarding crossing Scholls Ferry Road, wetlands, steep
terrain, and power lines. Segment 4 is between Galena Road and
Rigert, and involves numerous property owners who have agricultural
easements, which THPRD must extinguish. Segment 7 is between Davis
Road and Burntwood Road, and involves issues of extremely steep
terrain along with the forested area of Mount Williams. It is
necessary to balance and accommodate issues of ADA access,
preservation of forests, and use of walls to support the trail. Sharp
switchbacks are undesirable but without them the grade can be very
steep. The Department of Environmental Assessment is examining all of
these issues.

The Open House is a part of the public process that THPRD is following
on its way to construction of these segments. After Master Plan
approval by the Board, it will still take approximately another year
for permitting, design and development before construction can begin.

Please come if you can and offer comments, suggestions and support!
