Oregonian Saturday 6/29

I was wondering if anyone else saw the small article in the metro section,

Here's what I wrote:

In response to Cliff Mason ("End bike-lane baloney," June 29), I would argue

that bike lanes benefit motorists, as well as cyclists. Driving behind a

slow-moving bicycle, waiting for a safe time to pass, is not only

frustrating, but dangerous for all users of the road. Having no bike lane

is a breeding ground for hostility, as no one likes travel hindrance,

neither the driver nor the rider. I don't think under-used sidewalks are

fair game for demolition for road space, so why pick on some of America's

most bike-friendly planning? Bike lanes help traffic flow in a very civil

manner, a fact which I think most Portlanders are proud of.

I was wondering if anyone else saw the small article in the metro section,

where you can send in a letter to the editor. There is a nice article

from a

guy named Cliff Mason, he is complaining about bike lanes in Portland, and

how they take up valuable road space and cause more pollution then they

help

take away, they also help cause more traffic jams. I don't know what this

gentleman was smoking but I plan on responding to his nice comments. Make

your voice heard also. Let Mr. Mason know how many people out there do

commute and use bike paths daily! Hope everyone has a great 4th of July.
