Hi Obra,
I don't know how many of you know this, but Bill Cass left Nike last year to open is own business up in Whidbey Island, near Langley Washington. He just illustrated a children's book -The Survivorship Net, it's the story of Jim Owens -the book is a whimsically illustrated book that focuses on the important role of family, friends and caregivers in the life of every cancer patient. It just went on sale this month.
Some of the lead actors you might know -the flying Boonanas, with world champ stripes, Mario the Marvelous and his zebra-striped leotard and even Lancelot Legstrong in yellow.
We, the team, had the honor of staying this week with John Owens, Jim's brother, and learnt a lot about the book and Jim. Jim passed away in January of 2009, but held on until he could read the forward that Lance wrote for the book, Jim wanted to make sure it was perfect and he worked with Bill for a year to get the drawing just right.
The book is being sold at Amazon.com for only $10; There is 23 8.5x11 size drawings from Bill -they are spectator!
