Disc brakes in 'cross

I'm wondering if they will catch on, and agree with Erik Tonkin's thoughts about slowing wheel changes.  Maybe we're more enthusiastic about discs in our region because of the constant abrasive slop that bikes have to live in much of the year.   I truly hope that the scammers of the bike biz don't try to shove discs down road riders' throats--just what racers want, a heavier fork, and just what tourists want, a harsher riding fork that won't fit a rack.
