Only 15 days remain until the start of the 2010 Alpenrose Velodrome Challenge. Some of the best track riders from North America will be coming to Portland to challenge local riders for $13,000.
Confirmed riders include Travis Smith (currently ranked the #1 sprinter in the ), the men's Canadian National Endurance team, two-time Olympian Jame Carney, USA national team member and multiple national champion Cari Higgins and Monique Sullivan who was ranked 14th in the world for the keirin during the 2009/2010 season.
These world level athletes will be competing against local favorites such as Steven Beardsley (Gentle Lovers), Zak Kovalcik (Team BriHOP) and Jen Featheringill (Bike Central), just to name a few.
In addition to the awesome racing, Papa Murphy's will be handing out slices of pizza to the first 150 spectators at Friday night's session beginning at 6:00 p.m. There will be a catered VIP area all weekend (tickets are $20) and on Sunday, the event will host the second annual AVC Swap Meet.
