Just to keep you all in the loop, if you have not been reading the facebook updates.
After having a heart attack while racing at swan island, mike was admitted to providence. He needed a three artery bypass graft. He opted to go with a new, not done very much procedure that was scheduled to take 4-6 hours. With his usual "go big or go home" way, the surgery went just short of nine hours, ending late last night. The surgeon commented that mike has a big heart because of all the cycling and it did not leave much room for them to navigate in his rather puny chest.
This morning he is extabated, but all of his numbers are rather low. He says that there is not a part on him that does not hurt. There was some discussion on if he thought open heart surgery would be more difficult hen riding the six day. At this point he thinks the surgery wins.
Thanks for all the positive energy.
