Fish,
Head up now, don't worry about the skeeters. Just make sure to bring a
fully contained pedal powered pontoon boat and spend your entire
weekend navigating the open water. They can't hurt you out there!

Skeeters can be very bad up there. I really cannot tolerate these buggers.
It depends on when the snow melted off. Usually a few weeks after the snow
melt is gone the skeeters subside and it is no problem. I havent been up
there but was thinking about a weekend trip so I would also like to know the
status if someone could chime in.

Thanks.

The Skeeters are real bad everywhere this year.

I heard a rumor that a rouge gang of Skeeters ambushed a group of free
riders near Waldo last month. When they had there fill of the free riders
they stole there mt bikes and began riding the trails around Willamette
Pass. I think they are responsible for a recent crime wave involving Randy

Not sure about Waldo but I was at Ollalie/monan on the weekend of the 9th and it was pretty bad during the day. There was still some snow patches up in the 5000 foot range so that could be too blame but those should almost be gone now.

I brought natural skeeter repellent but you might want to ignore the health risks and go with the DEET. They bit me through my thick jeans.

If anyone has been to Waldo Lake in the past few weeks, would you give me an assessment of how bad the skeeters are?
Anywhere in the high Cascades with lots of lakes would also be an indicator, I guess.
Thanks,
Fish
