Hi everyone,

I put a link in the Mayor's Cup results to download the movie of the

infamous crash. The movie will show it once in real time and once in

slow motion.

http://www.obra.org/results/2002/road/mayors_cup_crit.html

The link is below the Pro 1/2 results.

Thanks again to Nancy for getting the movie to me (in a web friendly

format even!).

Cheryl

The TeamBossen Juniors (9 Bossen cousins plus Brett Williams was a

honorary cousin for the weekend) had a great time at the Rouge Valley

Mayors Cup. Mikkel won the Juniors race for the second year in a row.

Brett took third place and Ricky Bossen was still in the money in ninth

place. Josh Woolcock hung on for eleventh place and Kenny Bossen for

twelfth. The "short kids" (11 and 12 year-old Bossen cousins) showed

off their skill at riding in a pace line and stayed together

until?they?split up?with two laps to go. They placed as follows: 14.

Madison Chilenski 15. Patty Roper 16. Jacob Chilenski 17. Ellie Bossen

18. Kayla Woolcock. All of these kids really enjoyed the junior race

and plan to go again next year.

Recently upgraded Brett got a really respectable ninth place in the Cat

3 race.

Then there was Mikkel's very eventful Pro/1/2 finish. Thanks to Nancy

we have Mikkel's finish on tape. It is very amazing in slow motion.

This is what we have been able to piece together. Within the last few

yards before the finish, apparently someone clipped John Bravard's

wheel and he went down right in front of Mikkel. Mikkel had no chance

to react. Mikkel broad-sided John and did an amazing mid-air

tuck--roll--flip and then skidded on his back-side, head first across

the finish line in 16th place.

John lost more skin than Mikkel and has other injuries as well. It

takes about an hour to re-bandage Mikkel's many raw spots.

There was quite a bit of damage to his bike---bent fork, maybe a

damaged head set, front wheel/tire damage, front derailer damage and

his beautiful snakeskin seat is badly damaged. He is working on getting

it all handled so he can leave in a couple of weeks for nationals.

In spite of this the entire group of young Team Oregon Juniors had a

great time at the Mayors cup. They hope others will make the trip to

Medford next year. Valley of the Rouge State Camp Ground is only about

30 minutes from downtown Medford and is a really nice place to stay.?

Thanks to all who made this race happen.
