Hi Everyone,

For those of you who didn't receive the email I sent out earlier this afternoon, here are a couple updates ahead of tomorrow's final night of short track racing at PIR. Like in years past, we plan to go out with a bang and make this a night you don't want to miss out on!

1) Results of Race # 6, Series Standing and Weekly Prize Winners:
Results of last Monday's races and the current series standings are posted at http://www.portlandracing.com/results.html. Even if you are not in contention of the podium, you still could be the lucky winner of one of the weekly prizes, randomly drawn among all folks who raced during the last two weeks. Just go to http://www.portlandracing.com/weekly-prizes.html to find out.

2) It's time again for the "Ultra Short Track"Team Relay Race!
Like in years past, we will stage an all-for-fun team relay race on the motocross track, right after we're done with the regular races. The race line-up will consist of 24 teams of 10 racers who each will get to race one lap. Since we will only use the motocross track, the laps will be ultra-short, ultra-fast and ultra-fun to race and/or watch!

More details are posted at http://www.portlandracing.com/short-track-finale-2010.html

Note that - as of last Friday - all team relay slots have been filled. If you are not racing on one of the relay teams, just bring your cowbells and consider yourself automatically part of the cheerleading squad that will be lining the course.

3) Also back by popular demand... the NWTA Skills Park:
It's going to be a long night, so to keep the young ones entertained, Northwest Trail Alliance will come out with their super-cool skills park, allowing kids - both of the younger and older variety - to hone their riding and balance skills, all through the night. NWTA folks will also be on hand to answer all your questions about mountain biking in our region, including where to ride, how to help build and maintain trails, and how to get involved as a MTB advocate.

4) One last night of free, yummie goodies... and a ice-cold shot of caffeine!
Tomorrow, for one last night, you will be able to get your lemonade-and-baked-goodies fix at the Chris King tent and load up on the most delicious PB&J sandwiches, courtesy of our generous bread sponsor St Honore Bakery. And to celebrate our last night of the season, the great folks of Nossa Familia Coffee will be out there as well to serve free iced mochas (yeah!) and the PIR concession stand will be open for business, selling hot dogs, burgers, ice cream, and beer. Note: please respect the PIR policies and do not bring any alcoholic beverages from outside the venue.

5) Another chance to find out what top-notch, titanium mountain bikes are all about:
For the second week in a row, the Moots crew will be out at PIR with a fleet of demo bikes. Make sure to take one of their sweet rides for a spin. You'll love it!

6) Series Awards & Raffle:
In good tradition, we will close the night and wrap up the series with awards for the overall top-3 podium finishers in each category and of course our not-to-be-missed Grand Series Raffle, where we'll raffle off a bunch of great prizes provided by our sponsors Hopworks, Chris King, Moots, Yakima, Cyclepath, Bike N Hike, Portland Design Works and Nossa Familia Coffee.

That's it. I am looking forward to seeing you tomorrow at PIR. Round up your friends. Bring your family. Let's throw a party!

~Kris

Portland Racing

PS: There is ongoing construction on I-5, which could result in longer-than-usual driving times. If you are not doing so already, consider riding your bike to PIR or take your bike on the MAX. If you have to drive, make sure to head out early (registration and pre-riding starts at 4:30pm), carpool with others (there's a carpool lane on I-5 from 3pm on), or avoid I-5 altogether (from Portland, it's very easy to get to PIR via Interstate Ave or MLK Blvd). Another good reason to come out early is that we won't allow any pre-riding on the course after 6pm.

PS 2: Short track madness is coming to an end, but summer bike race fun is far from over... after skipping the 2009 season, Portland Racing is teaming up with Bike N Hike to bring back the Kruger's Kermesse Farm Crit, which will take place on Sunday Aug 29 on beautiful Sauvie Island. Mark your calendars and check out all the details at: http://www.portlandracing.com/kermesse/
