I second that.

Thank for bringing that up David. Sometimes people's emotions get
involved and people often hit send without thinking about the greater
impact statements may make.

I myself appreciate a personal note sent directly to me instead of
bringing an issue up via OBRA chat as a first avenue of approach.
Sometimes, I get the impression that is done to achieve a specific
purpose. I will be honest, I find that approach detestable and below
the expectations that I have for this wonderful community.

While OBRA chat is a great tool, it too often becomes an echo chamber.
That's why I prefer communicating to the membership through our
e-newsletter- which has a much greater penetration rate- in fact-
75%-100% greater.

As an organization- we have grown dramatically over the past years.

2006- 3296
2007- 3452
2008- 3900
2009- 4442
2010- I am forecasting for between 4800-5000.

With so many members, it will be impossible to satisfy everyone all
the time. As Mike Murray so eloquently put- "Opinions are like
(expletive omitted- nicely put- someone's termination of the digestive
tract)- everyone has one." I appreciate all the promoters for all
their hard work- and more consideration should be given to them for
their hard efforts without which we would not enjoy the best racing in
the US.

As a great example, a rider contacted us about a recent race course-
and even suggested excellent ways to change it. Working with the
promoter- the course was changed to increase safety and made for a
better course!

Thank you, David.  As a promoter I always appreciate direct contact versus the airing of laundry on the OBRA list.

I think it's more appropriate to email the 'contact us' person on the event when you have questions about the race course, it's design or hazards.
I think it's a good thing to email the list when you know something that organizer might not now. Like the only gas station in town closes at 7pm or there are dogs. Sometimes the organizer/promoter won't know this even if they have ridden it before. But then again, you might want to contact the organizer directly at first as they might want to contact such person to see if they can be leashed for a day or two. Just an example.

Sometimes I get the feeling that the intentions are to discredit a venue or put some fear into the peleton.
Start with the organizer, I am pretty sure they will answer your questions and address the problems.

I think it's more appropriate to email the 'contact us' person on the event
when you have questions about the race course, it's design or hazards.

I think it's a good thing to email the list when you know something that
organizer might not now. Like the only gas station in town closes at 7pm or
there are dogs. Sometimes the organizer/promoter won't know this even if
they have ridden it before. But then again, you might want to contact the
organizer directly at first as they might want to contact such person to see
if they can be leashed for a day or two. Just an example.

Sometimes I get the feeling that the intentions are to discredit a venue or
put some fear into the peleton.

Start with the organizer, I am pretty sure they will answer your questions
and address the problems.
