Dear OBRA Members,
A couple of good questions have been brought to my attention. First off someone asked with the reversal of the course does that mean categories that are running the big loop and then the small loop now start off the race running the small loop first. The answer is no. You will do the big loop first come through the finish line once and then complete one last lap of the small loop. This allows our officials an easier time scoring and a quick snap shot of what is on the road 10 miles out.
The next question is feed zone. We have located a feed zone at mile point 29 that is at the top of a rise. Ample parking on the left hand side of the road but you must feed from the right. Signs will be posted signifying the location early on race day. If you are planning to have family and friends go out and support you please have them drive in reverse on the course. The distance from the finish to the feed zone is 17 miles going in reverse (counter clockwise).
Number placement is on the right hand side now do to the change.
Finally to answer all you folks who have written me to change the course back to the orginal layout no we will not reconsider. We received a number of complaints about decending that stretch of road with the chip seal and we have made the decision to run it clockwise due to that input. Yes I know a number of you think these people who complained about the chip seal are soft but no we are staying the course so that we the organizers are not held as the bad guys should a crash happen chip seal or not.
Our complaint box is now officially full so please do not send any more just come out and race your bike in some incredibly beautiful country regardless if it is in a clockwise or counter clockwise fashion.
Sincerely,
Chad
