Randy,
PLEASE don't think I am whining or complaining. I know what it takes to
promote races as my wife and I put on the NEPS Northeast Points Series on
the East coast for almost 5 years of which there were as many as 10 races in
a season. NEPS is a Observed Trials series and if you think DHers whine, you
aint heard nothing yet. The one thing that keep us in the black though was
consistency, advertising and organization. Yes we lost money the first year
or so but once we got out in the public view ridership went from 20 riders
to an average of 80, for trials this was unheard of.
Anyways, your races are the best....it;s just a little frustrating as the
face of Mtn. biking is changing and getting thinner.

Hello All
To answer the questions about the downhill(DH series) series.
Well to be honest it has been a rough year and a great year on the DH
side.
Turn out is up...The Thaw turn out was huge.
On the downside. The first snow race didn't go too well because of it
being
really warm and not making for the best course in part and also in part
because of certian racers acting up.
The next Hood race was canceled due to snow and the next Hood race had to
come up with a last minute course because once again there was still too
much
snow.
Shotgun Creek happened but it was MUDDY...as the promoter of that event I
thought it was a great DH, people were cool for the most part minus a
couple
of asses that are always that way and on that subject...we have the right
to
ban people from the series and there are a couple of you that are VERY
VERY
CLOSE!, but there are hundreds of racers so a couple of asses is normal
haha.
The last Hood race happend and I hear went well.
Shotgun 2 is canceled, so a race in Keno was set to replace that race.
The
permit was issued and the LOD guys went out to work on the course only to
find it was totally logged and bulldozed...why a agency would issue a
permit
and not tell them the course was logged beats the Hell out of me. Too bad
as
Keno was the best course in the series.
So where we are now is TRYING to find another site to have the State
Championships...Shotgun is out due to BLM issues, Keno is out because the
logging trashed the area way too bad to fix...Ashland is out because the
city
is upset because people riding in the area have been making all kinds of
new
trails in area's they are not suppose to including the city water shead,
so
they are not big on DH racing. Oakridge is out because most of the trails
that would make a great DH course are 5-7 miles long and have some up's.
There is one trail about 2 1/2 miles long but it has a couple of ups and I
think some racers would not find it hard enough...
So I am really not sure what to do.
The final will still happen in Sept at Hood.
If we have another race we will do a mailing to OBRA members, bike shops
and
use this e-mail network to get the word out.
To answer the big question....orginally you HAD to race 5 of the races in
the
series for the overall. That number is now 3 if there is another race that
number will be 4. So even if you have more points and you are one race
short
it doesn't matter...the rules and flyers CLEARLY state you must race X
amount
of races.
That mean 3 or 4 races in THE SAME CLASS...you do NOT carry ANY points
from
class to class that is an OBRA rule and it is the same on the XC side. I
DO
NOT HANDLE POINTS, so don't ask please.
