Dan Silvernail
Would any of you be interested in going on a credit card tour at the end of
September? 3 days (2 overnights) long, 200k per day, stay in hotels to keep
the load light. Start on Monday the 27 and end Weds the 29.
If so, read on. If not, hit delete now (or pass this on to someone who may
be interested)
Here is the basic plan and route: day 1: Portland to Lyle, WA via
Government Camp, Dufur, the Dalles. (about 120 miles). Day 2: Lyle to
Carson via Glenwood and Trout Lake (about 130 miles). Day 3: Carson, meader
back to Portland via Yacolt, Battle Ground, Camas. (somewhere in the
neighborhood of 100 miles).
Pace: I don't plan to run myself into the ground but I also want to finish
before the sun goes down each day. Something in the 8-9 hour range.
If you're interested in going but don't have a touring rig, don't worry. A
cyclocross bike with a rack would work just fine (or even a backpack or
large camelback if you don't mind). I'm planning on carrying only one
pannier, no more than 15 extra lbs. I actually have an extra rack and a
pannier that I would loan someone.
It would be nice to have some company along, it's also a lot safer and my
wife would be a lot happier knowing that I wasn't out there alone.
So let me know if you or someone that you know would be interested.
Thanks!
