I have been reading with great interest the comments regarding =
Candace's
petition. Seems to me that we should be looking at what we can ALL do =
not
what we can't and won't do. I promoted and directed the Mt. Tabor race =
2
years in a row and had masters catagories for BOTH women and men. I =
worked
to get a grant from the USCF to help sponsor the race. It did not feel =
like
any more work to me to get prizes for everyone. Adding the master women
catagory INCREASED my turnout of participants overall from previous =
years.
Cyclocross last year added a Master women catagory and over 18 women =
came
out and participated, the most ever by far. So, men and women let's =
work
TOGETHER not AGAINST each other to grow our sport. Encourage your =
wives,
girlfriends, and daughters to come out and try bike racing or for that =
fact
just to ride. I would like to thank Candance for being willing to =
bring
this issue out. It is not an easy thing to do and she was willing to =
take
the risk for ALL of us and for ALL of cycling. By working together, =
making
everyone aware it has woken us up and who knows what great things are =
to
come from it in the future.

Hello All:
I will admit that I did not read the entire length of Candace's =
manifesto.
I have two comments:
1) If ANY organization insists on forcing me to include certain =
categories
and tell me how to run my one little event, I simply won't have my =
event.
That is that.
2) Candace: If you really want to find out about the costs and issues
associated with race promotion, put on a race. If you don't like the
status quo of Oregon racing, don't tell others what to do....put on a =
race
the way you want. It is that simple. =20
