tandem tires ?

Need some advice on getting a good set of tandem tires.

history... bought some Panracer T-serv messenger 35c. (These tires
were way wider than expected, they almost look like 2.2" slick mtb
tires!)
So went with Panracer T-Serv Protex 32c... (the fenders fit a little
better for winter riding...)
Well these lasted maybe 6 months maybe 500 miles ? before the tire
blew, luckily at a stoplight... the sidewalls were basically shot.

right now the 35c's are back on. but wary of panracers sidewalls now.

would like to go back to 32c or (or a smaller 35c..) (so i can use a
normal un-modified fenders. )

mainly commute with this tandem (but routinely hit 45 mph coming into
downtown from st johns... so yes need good tires.. ) and maybe do the
occasional 30 or 40 mile weekend rides..

weight is ~450 lbs, maybe more depending on what get put into the panniers...

looking at this chart
http://www.precisiontandems.com/photos_files/tirechartx.jpg

I want a 32c tire that can handle at least 120 psi....
Been searching around on the web with out much luck... no
manufacturer really states a good tandem tire. Ok the precisiontandem
site has a very old writeup.... gatorskins... but sorry i have
flatted more with gatorskins (albiet old maybe unrefined) then with a
cheap hutchinson racing tire with the anti puncture belt.. And well
there have been a lot better tires made and on the market now !

the conti's do have a history good sidewalls though and can usually
handle high pressure...

is the conti hardshell actually made to 32c and avail in the US ?
how about schwalbe marathons... etc.

Any loaded tandems have good experience with durable tires ? (meaning
if your sub 350, probably won't be of help... :)
