1. Swap meet: We're only one week into the cross season and you're still
dialing in your equipment. On Sunday we'll be hosting a swap meet. We'll bring
some tents and tables, and you bring your list of needs and your extra gear.
We’ll have a person in the area all day, but you need to manage your own stuff.
If you have gear to clear out, please bring it on out so you can find it another
loving home!
2. Series points: We've partnered with Pain + Suffer'n and the Battle at
Barlow to create a four race early season series. Series points will be kept and
the top three riders from each field (except beginner) will receive a front-row
call-up at the first Cross Crusade race on October 3rd. Points will be awarded
18 deep in each field, so if you placed in the top 18 at Pain on the Peak,
you’re already in the hunt! You have three more races to rack up those points.
Don't miss a chance to line up in front of the other 150 people in your field!
3. Beginner Clinics - Are you new to cyclocross? Need some last minute tips?
We've set up some beginner clinics for both days at 8:15 AM. No cost to you,
just get registered for your race and line up with our experts for some
on-the-race course instruction. Use it for your warm-up and just roll to the
starting box!
4. Juniors – This year, the Double Cross is proud to host the opening races for
the 2010 Oregon Junior and High School Cyclocross Series. These races will both
take place on Sunday, September 19th. For more info on the JCS and HS Series, go
to juniorcross.com
Please note the schedule differences for Juniors for the two days. On Saturday,
the Junior field will be run with the adults (11:40 AM) and riders must be 12 or
older. We will have a kiddie cross race for kids 11 and under. On Sunday, all
Juniors (and 18 year old high school racers) will run during the slot for the
JCS/High School Series. On Sunday there will be no kiddie race and no Junior
field at 11:40.
5. T-shirts - Remember our super dope Double Cross shirts from last year? We'll
have them for sale this year. $20.
6. Camping and housing - You can camp at the fairgrounds. $15 for an RV and
$10 for a tent. I think you can get a shower for a handful of quarters. We'll
be out setting some course Saturday evening so you could pay then or Sunday
morning at registration. Other accommodation info is available here:
www.hoodriver.org/HRCCC_CategoryTemplate.asp?CategoryINDX=414
7. Family activities – Hood River in September is loaded with stuff for the
family to do. We’ll have some maps for the Fruit Loop tour and there’s lots of
info on the Hood River Chamber of Commerce website (www.hoodriver.org). This
weekend is a pear festival so many of the wineries and fruit stands are having
special events. For winery info, check out www.columbiagorgewine.com .
Rasmussen Farms has a corn maze and other family activities
(www.rasmussenfarms.com/) .
8. Cross numbers - We will be using Crusade numbers. Bring yours from Pain on
the Peak or pick your season number up in Hood River.
Questions? Shoot me an email and I’ll get back to you as soon as I can.
Thanks!
