Millar-Griffin
There is a team that has formed in East Portland that would still welcome new members. Email me if you are a HS or Junior Cross racer or parent of one looking for a group to train with. We have just begun practices this week. Honestly we are most focused on the HS CX series but will probably be at MANY of the JCS races if not all! We would welcome others to train with us! Depending on your age we may want a parent to join the practice.
Email me if your are interested!

This Sunday September 19th the Oregon Junior & High School Cyclocross Series
kicks off at Hood River.
If you have not joined a High School team it is not too late. Let me know if
you know of someone looking for a team. Remember you are still racing for
your OBRA team if you participate on a High School team. You actually can
race as an individual, for a High School team, and for BAR Points on your
OBRA team all within the same race, and race series! Look for more
information soon outlining current teams and how to join one in your area.
The Junior Cyclocross Series (JCS) is an 8 race series best 6 out of 8, must
start 5 to qualify for series awards. The High School Cyclocross Series (HS)
is a 5 race series best 4 out of 5, must finish with three racers in at
least three races to qualify for the series. Note: High School racers
meeting the Junior Cyclocross Age classification outlined below (CCX age 18
or younger) can qualify for JCS series awards by completing 5 races.
These two series are dedicated to kids racing Cyclocross in Oregon!
Race Schedule:
Sunday 9/19 Hood River Double Cross, 12:35 pm, Hood River, JCS & HS
Saturday 9/25 Psycho Cross, 12 noon, Eugene, JCS Only
Saturday 10/9 Willamette Valley Cross at Heiser Farm, 12 noon, Dayton, JCS
& HS
Saturday 10/16 Psycho Cross, 12 noon, Eugene, JCS Only
Sunday 10/24 Cross Crusade, 12:35 pm, Portland, JCS & HS
Sunday 11/7 Cross Crusade, 12:35 pm, Hillsboro, JCS & HS
Saturday 11/13 Psycho Cross, 12 noon, Eugene, JCS Only
Saturday 11/20 OBRA Championships, 12 noon, Salem, JCS & HS - Double Points
The sponsorship for this series is fantastic and incredibly generous:
. Pacific Power, Willamette Valley Cycling, and Northwest
Multisports have contributed their hard earned CASH to help fuel this series
along with the generous contributions from our merchandise sponsors.
. Castelli is providing super cool Series Champion Jerseys for all
Categories (JCS & HS). Check them out on our web page or at the races.
. Redline is providing a sweet 2011 24" Conquest complete Cyclocross
Bike and Conquest Frame/Fork Grand Prizes + contributing to our series
awards distribution.
. Sellwood Cycle Repair is providing a 2011 complete Kona Cross Bike
Grand Prize and a special (to be named later) Gift/Award for the High School
Series.
. Hammer Nutrition will be keep everyone fueled up providing Heed
Sports Drink at all the races, and Goodie Bags of Hammer Nutrition products
for the first 50 juniors to register at Hood River and the State
Championships + contributing to our series awards distribution.
. Rolf Prima has donated a sweet set of hoops (2011 VCX Cross
wheelset) Grand Prize.
. Ralpha will be providing a (to be named later) award to the top
High School Team
There would be no Junior Cyclocross Series without the generosity of these
sponsors. Please thank them with your patronage. Grand prize awards will be
based on a weighted Lottery factoring in race participation and series
finish. The idea is that everyone who participates in the minimum number of
races has a chance to win!
We will have Medals and generous series merchandise awards FIVE deep in each
JCS Category.
We will have OBRA medals for the top 3 High School Male/Female/Team.
A note on Race Age: OBRA has adopted the Cyclocross Race Age system (Age on
Dec 31 of the current year plus one year). OBRA also has a rule that Juniors
must be 10 years of age as of Dec 31 in the year of racing. What this means
is that the lowest age Category in the Oregon Junior Cyclocross Series is
age 11 to 12 (Cyclocross Age), and NOT 10-12 as previously advertized.
Please check the web page for any other information related to the series
rules, schedule, etc. If that does not answer your questions please contact
me or Kenji Sugahara.
