The camera gets lap times. Brian List and Jesse Finch Gnehm have helped with writing an Excel sheet that extracts them. The catch is that it still requires someone to sit in front of the picture, read number from the riders and enter them into the computer. There are 5 keystrokes/rider/lap. At Alpenrose that will work out to 37,500+ keystrokes. This is a slow process which introduces errors. Because the process is slow Candi generally enters much of the lap finish order from hand sheets because she gets ahead of the camera operator. If we went to a chip system that data gets entered into the computer by the chip reader. This eliminates 2 data entry points so the results get more accurate and somewhat faster.
