I like the Fango except for it's tendency to have the tread peel off. Not sure if that problem has fixed.
Agree wider is better.
I like the flexus primus and cubus. Cubus tread pattern works really well in the rear. In greasy mud I've noticed that on the front it can slip a bit. I think it is because the lugs are in rows instead of being a little offset. If the mud is pretty slick I've had good luck with Vittoria XM tires. I don't like the other Vittoria tires much when it gets wet.
