Only three more shopping days until the start of the 2010 Cross Crusade!
I just want to put out a quick note to welcome everyone to the River City
Bicycles Cross Crusade. First, I would like to welcome back our existing
sponsors. Special thanks to River City Bicycles, Shimano, Yakima, Sellwood
Cycle Repair, Russ Toyota, Bob's Red Mill, Deschutes Brewing Co.,
Therapeutic Assoc., Chris King, and the Vanilla Workshop. Second, I'd like
to announce our newest presenting sponsors. Burgerville has joined the
Crusade and will be serving up breakfast and lunch at each of the Crusade
races. Go Pro will be giving away high definition helmet cam's and also
producing video's from all of the races. And Ridley Bicycles has joined up
as our new bike sponsor.
Mechanical support for each race will be from Shimano and
Simplebicycles.com. There will be neutral wheels and support in the pit at
all races.
There have been many questions regarding call ups for the first Crusade race
this weekend. We will first call up the top five finishers from each
category from the 2009 Cross Crusade. Next, points were tabulated from Pain
on the Peak, Double Cross, and Battle at Barlow. We will call up the top
three in each category from that series of races. Finally, we will call up
any rider who got a mandatory upgrade in those first races also. After
that, all other riders will be called up via the patented Cross Crusade
random number call up.
Our treasure hunt will get under way very shortly. The rules and the first
riddle are on our brochure, which will be arriving in mailboxes tomorrow.
Rules and riddles will also be posted on the Crusade Forum shortly.
Treasure hunt prizes are awesome! The grand prize will be a trip to St.
Wendel, Germany with the whole Crusade crew to be a part of the 2010 World
Cyclocross Championships.
Parking at Alpenrose is always a bit of a challenge. This year however, the
dairy has offered to open up their second lot on the south end of the
facility. We will have a crew of parking attendants to help get everyone
in. If you choose to park in the neighborhood across from the dairy, please
be polite to those residents and don't block driveways.
The rules and prizes for the team competition are the same as last year. So
sign up your team and try to kick Sorella Forte's butt's.
The Alpenrose course will be open for preview between 2 and 5 pm on
Saturday. This would also be a good time for teams to set up tents on the
course. Be mindful that Alpenrose is a no alcohol facility.
We will have a bunch of awesome prizes each week. Most will be semi
randomly distributed. Deschutes Brewery will give out 100 six packs of
micro brew every weekend. This will be a bit tricky to distribute at our no
alcohol facilities. You may get a raincheck for the following week. Also,
the Black Night will be making a triumphant return with many hot prizes in
his jersey pockets including Shimano/Pro handle bars, stems, and seat posts.
He will also have two Go Pro high definition helmet cams to give out per
week. You don't know what the Black Night is? Just come to the race and
you'll find out. Finally, for the Cat. A men and women, we'll be offering a
cash prizelist for each event. There will be a $500 purse payout 5 deep for
the men and women.
Our expo is going to be huge with lots of food choices and lots of folks
displaying their cool stuff. So stick around after your race do a little
browsing and cheer on your compatriots.
Remember it is all of you amazing cross fans that make cross what it is! We
hope you all have the time of your life racing cross this fall. See you
Sunday!
