Official pre-riding note - Alpenrose Blind Date

I need to clarify - pre-riding is allowed anytime before the first race.
Most of the course will be open until 5:15pm, but the part used by the
kiddie races closes at 5pm. Also, please sign the waiver before riding.

Hi All,

Great to see so many racers out at the Dairy last night. You really are
challenging the officials. Bring it on!

I do want to make sure we are all clear regarding pre-riding.

First the basics:

1. Pre-riding is allowed only after the Chief Ref okays it. (in this
case me)

2. Pre-riding is allowed only after the Chief Ref okays it. (got it
yet?)

3. If pre-riding is allowed while a race is still finishing, please
enter the course about 100 feet beyond the finish line.

4. If pre-riding is allowed while a race is still finishing DO NOT
PASS ANYBODY STILL RACING.

5. If pre-riding is allowed while there is not racing going on you can
enter wherever, but only go in course direction.

6. Please do not cross the finish line if you are not racing at the
time. This slows down publishing of results. Corollary: if there are orange
cones, barriers, fencing, tape, officials, or other obstacles in the way of
you crossing the finish line, then that is a good clue that you should find
another way to get to where you are going.

You should assume the above to be the case at all OBRA events.

(Last night, I was very disappointed that Juniors had to contend with
pre-riders at the end of their race. How rude.)

Now the specifics regarding the Blind Date series.

1. The only time you can count on pre-riding is after the Junior race,
before 6pm.

2. I will do my best to allow pre-riding after other races, but the
schedule is very tight. Hang around the Start area at the end of the current
race so you can hear the announcement of when/if pre-riding may begin. In
the case of Blind Date races you should start pre-riding from the Start area
rather than from the Finish area.

3. When/If pre-riding is allowed, it will be announced over the sound
system, usually by Luciano.

4. Luciano may also make an announcement to clear the course, but
assume pre-riding is done once the next race starts.

5. If we have problems with pre-riders passing racers then all bets
are off.

I like the casual atmosphere of this race and want to keep it as laid back
as possible. Penalizing racers is no fun, but it is part of an official's
job to keep the playing field fair. Please do your part.

Love,

Brian List
