Because we use the Cross Crusade numbers, there are only certain combos of
categories that you can run together. In this case, because we're a smaller
race (400-500 racers at Heiser vs 1,500 at the Crusades) we combined the Men C
and Master Men C. This means the Clydes had to have a new race slot. Any Clyde
who wants to race longer is free to either double up (race Clydes and your
category) for an extra $10 or race in their category.

I am curious why the Clydesdales are running with the beginning class and only
30 minutes. Us bigger boned brethren do a pretty good job of lugging around
the course in good fashion and seem to survive the 45 minute ordeal. Curious to
why OBRA sanctioned this as a 30 minute race. This happened a few times in the
MTB series this summer, where the clydes didnt have to do the same amount of
miles as the Cat C-B. I just hate to pay the same entrance fee, drive to the
event, and do less laps... Let the Chubby's Run!!!!!

OBRA does not, with few exceptions, dictate the length of races or
compositions of fields to race organizers. Requests such as this need to be
directed to the race organizers. Many considerations come into play when
coming up with race length. In this particular case I am betting that there
will be just as many people happy that the race is shorter as there are ones
that are bothered that it is not longer. The race organizers get to figure
out what fits their needs most; attracting more riders, fitting their
schedule, etc.
