Hi Vaughn,

I am not a doctor, and this is not medical advice: In regards to
acupuncture, a meta review of research in the book 'Trick or
Treatment: The Undeniable Facts about Alternative Medicine' by Edzard
Ernst and Simon Singh shows that acupuncture have some benefits for
pain and nausea, but has not been shown to have benefits for other
type of ailments. I have no idea how acupuncture would have any effect
on hernia, so I would ask your doctor for some references to how this
would work. What kind of doctor gave you this suggested treatment?

Regards,
-Per

apologies for going off topic...

I've just been diagnosed with what appears to be a ventral hernia - just wondering if any of the trainer types on this list have experience with sports injuries of this type and may have recommendations.

E.g.:
- oh yeah, this happens all the time, you should buy this brace.
- or: you need to talk to this particular doctor, he/she has lots of experience treating hernias.
- or: dood, no core workouts for you. ever again.

My own doctor's recommendation is acupuncture. I'm... er... going to give it a shot, but I'm not a big fan of needles / would *love* to hear other stories.
