scappoose spraying

A favorite quotation of mine is one I saw posted on the wall of Rear's
Manufacturing in Eugene, makers of farm equipment such as flails, mowers, and
sprayers. "Herbicides, when used properly, are indeed a blessing to mankind".

Nothing in the links you provided would give me any alarm in riding my bike on
that property, and I would be thankful for the access allowed by the landowner.

just did some reading on some of these chemicals being sprayed at the scappose
trails. this isn't cool at all. i keep seeing these posts about how we should
just be thankful that we have these trails to ride on. BS!. none of this stuff
sounds safe, especialy if you want to go ride / run with your dog. (or kids). i
know, i know it's private land they can do whatever they want w / it. i guess
that includes deforesting and poisoning.

This type of business practice is allowed in our capitalistic / political
system. That does not take away what you bring up with regard to what
these chemicals do to all the creatures living out there as well as those
visiting. These are very efficient at KILLING the vegetation the Forest
Products companies do not want and in most cases not harming the ones they
grow for profit. As my first sentence pointed out, they get to do this
because it is accepted by our society for (as Spock might say) the benefit
of the many. This does not mean I personally agree with the industry doing
this to our planet, but they get to do it. There are other things they do
that I do not agree with, but they get to do it. Thus we get lumber and
paper products for less than if they did it in a more environmentally
friendly manner (it would cost more). But hey. I do not put weed and feed
on my lawn and it has weeds. So, to some I would be a bad neighbor... to
others I would be a good fellow. Thanks for posting about this however as I
hope it does at least make people reconsider hanging out in a place when
they post it. You know if they are "required to post" a warning about the
application of these chemicals.... "they are some serious stuff". The
miracle of chemistry. Yes and it is good they let us ride out there. We
are exposed to probably some stuff as nasty in other places we do not even
think about. In general these companies are not big monsters. They are
just trying to produce products efficiently to maximize profit.
