Crossing the finish line, get the word out

OBRA,

Here's another plea from an official about the finish line. Most of you know this already, but it needs to be said:

Don't cross the finish line unless you're racing.

That's it. Simple. Anyone else riding or walking over the line sows confusion and chaos into the whole scoring process. This has a lot to do with the way our finish line cameras work, as well as the huge amount of work involved in constructing accurate results. "I'm just practicing" "I'm not wearing a number" or "I've got to find my daughter" or any other rationalizations are not legitimate exemptions from this rule.

That being said, most of you know this already, and do a great job of avoiding the line when warming up or hanging out, but there's a lot of beginners and spectators that don't know. Please help them out. When you're sharing other rules, practices, caveats, customs, rumors, gossip, etc. try to gently inform them about the finish line.

Help the officials, yourself, and your fellow racers by helping to get the word out.

Thank you,

Peter Drake
